Finding an internship in the mental health field can be very challenging.
GrowingInterns.com was created to provide:
- A list of internship opportunities and supervisors in your area. My goal is to have all job postings for the mental health field on this site instead of spread out all over various sites so they are easier to find.
- A list of all interns/associates looking for internship hours to help them get the necessary hours with minimal struggle. I want internships and supervisors easy to find for those needing internships.
- Relevant resources for someone new in the mental health field. Resources can include interesting blog articles on other sites, workshops, ways to connect to the community, etc. If you have suggestions on other resources you would like to see, please let me know.
About The Creator
My name is Jill Palmer Praisner and I finished my licensed professional counselor internship in November of 2011. I experienced my own struggles with the internship process and paid attention to the struggles of my peers. With a background in high tech, I felt compelled to use my old career skills to help graduate students in my new career field. I think it’s important to help the transition from graduate student, to intern, to fully licensed mental health professional be a little easier.
I’m now an LPC-S working in a private practice in Austin, TX found here: www.austincounselingcenter.com. I love what I do and wish the same for other new therapists/counselors in the making. I would love your feedback on what I can do to help with the process as I will change GrowingInterns.com as needed to meet your needs. Please let me know what I can do to make this site more useful. You can email me at email@example.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
